| What Is Web Hosting |
The term is used to describe a variety of services
necessary to support a web site. It allows people to place
web documents onto a special type of computer called a “web
server” which has a constant, high-speed connection
to the internet.
This effectively involves 'renting' a space on a server, and
this is the place where your web pages are stored. |
|
 |
| How Does It Work? |
When a visitor looks at your website, all the
data that makes up the web page (text, graphics etc) is transferred
from the server across the internet, and onto the visitor’s
computer, where it is viewed in a web browser. |
|
 |
| How Much Does It Cost? |
At Clear Design UK (Bristol) - we host web sites
on a fast, reliable server space for as little as *£150
per year. These costs include the maintenance and smooth running
of your web site.
*Web hosting with site statistics is an additional £50/year.
*Any sites which require specific requirements - such as database
integration, streaming video etc - please call for a quote:
0117 9300222. |
|
 |
| Are Emails Included? |
The above costs include up to three addresses.
Any additional addresses are charged at £10 each. You
have two options:
1.) Email Forwarding allows you to specify an existing address
which all mail sent to your domain name (yourname@yourdomain.com)
will arrive.
2.) POP email allows your mail to be held on a server, giving
you the ability to login to the server (using a username and
password) and retrieve your mail securely using an email client
such as Outlook Express. |
|
 |
| How Many Email Addresses Do I Need? |
Many companies like to have a different address
for each department, (info, sales, enquiries etc.) You could
also have separate email addresses for each of the personnel
in your company.
Others prefer to keep things simple and just have one address. |
